“Putting your Best Voice Forward!”

Audio version for your listening pleasure!

I’ve been an actress and a voiceover actor for over thirty years now (yikes!) and I have loved using my voice for all of my roles. From playing a Vulcan on Star Trek to being a Jedi Warrior on Star Wars: The CloneWars, and everything in between, I have had the blessing of knowing what a powerful tool my voice is to express my passion, and talent. I’ve loved acting on-screen and stage, but I love doing voiceovers even more, because it’s allowed me to play so many more “colorful characters” than my on camera acting career. In the voiceover world, I’m only limited by my vocal abilities. I’ve been able to play a “Sniper Wolf,” a cop who happens to be a blue amino acid, and even The Statue of Liberty with a New York vibe

That’s one of the many gifts of voiceover acting. There are also so many kinds of jobs within the “Voiceover world.” From narration, to TV and radio commercials, to animation, political ads, radio imaging, etc. There are so many mediums for voiceover work, and all have a different skill set, which has challenged me and helped me to master how I use my vocal qualities. Ultimately, these skills have been invaluable in both my professional and personal life, from how I speak to my children… (trying to “sound” patient when I’m asking them to pick up their toys… again), to my clients who are putting their faith and money in me to represent their products with truth and integrity. I also love helping people, which I call “Using my voice for Good” and have had the pleasure to use my voice to inspire and empower people, such as friends, family, and colleagues. I’ve spoken at colleges in the past on eating disorders related to the media, and my own recovery from having one. I’ve donated my voice to help get the word out about causes I’m passionate about, including wonderful charities like SOS Children’s Villages.

I’ve loved making my own ten minute guided mediation, called “Take Ten with Tasia” to help people “Tune out the world, and Tune into themselves.”

I’ve even read my favorite quotes, and wrote an original one of my own, and shared them online as little “Inspirationals.”

I’ve realized that being an actress and voiceover artist has given me a unique opportunity to help people tune into their voice and become more aware of how they speak and present themselves to the world. Our speaking voice is one of the greatest tools we have as communicators, and it can be an asset or a hindrance, depending on how one utilizes it. In our world of technology and social media, the art of verbal communication has been somewhat usurped by the written word: by the email, tweet or text. But you can’t text a job interview, or tweet a presentation to your class. The ability to speak well is still essential in business, school, and especially in our relationships. So, I’ve decided to combine my love of voiceovers and using the voice as a means of great communication, and my passion to help people, into a program called ”Putting Your Best Voice Forward.” I’m traveling to colleges all across the country, sharing about the very cool world of voiceovers. And using that as jumping off point to help students become aware of their own voice, and how to maximize its’ potential, to get their unique message across. I’m really excited to bring together the culmination of both of my passions, and combine them into an interactive and fun presentation. If you’d like my program at your college, or know someone who would, I would be grateful if your would share this link,
